Speaker: Mark Costello, Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor
Mark Costello became Oklahoma’s Commissioner of Labor on January 10, 2011. He is a 4th generation Oklahoman. Mark graduated from College High in Bartlesville and entered the University of Kansas, graduating in 1980 with his undergraduate degree. He met and married his wife Cathy in 1982 and they have five children. They currently reside in Edmond.
Since 1984, Mark has founded several technology based companies which have resulted in over a hundred good jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. A fiscal conservative, Commissioner Costello believes that his private sector business experience gives him valuable insight necessary to administer the Labor Department’s $7.5 million annual budget in the best interests of Oklahomans.
Commissioner Costello has taken a sabbatical from his business interests to serve as an “active Labor Commissioner who will deploy existing resources to better aid Oklahoma job producers.” He will support legislative efforts to reduce government bureaucracy, and will work hard to promote private-sector job creation.
