Charl van Wyk received a citation from Gen. Acker of the South African Police, for his courage under fire, which halted the terrorist attack on the St. James Church on July 25, 1993. His courageous action saved many lives. He is the author of Shooting Back -- the Right and Duty of Self-Defense. Charl is a full-time missionary of Frontline Fellowship in Cape Town, South Africa, and is the Director of their Africa Christian Action ministry. As Director of Africa Christian Action, Charl has organized presentations to Parliament, protests, and Life Chains. In 1991, he succeeded in persuading over 9,000 stores in South Africa to remove pornography from their shelves. Most of the hospitals and medical personnel in South Africa refuse to participate in legal abortions. Several abortion clinics have closed down.
