  Topic:  What I will do if elected

Owen Laughlin graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 1973 with a B.A. in Political Science, and received a law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1976.  Owen was in the banking business for 20 years, served as a former Assistant District Attorney, served as a church youth minister for 13 years, and is an FAA certified flight instructor and commercial pilot.  He has owned and managed several successful businesses in Northwest Oklahoma. He was elected in 1996 to the Oklahoma State Senate where he served for 12 years. He served as Co-Floor Leader in the state Senate for the 2 years that the number of Republicans and Democrats was tied at 24-24.  Laughlin was named 1999 Legislator of the Year by the National Republican Legislators Association.  Laughlin is an Eagle Scout who still supports scouting.  He has been married to Charlette for 35 years, and they have raised 4 children. 

Jason Reese is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he served as the State Chairman of the College Republicans.   After finishing OU Law School, Jason went to work as a staff attorney at the State Legislature where he served as a part of the Workers Comp Task Force and was placed in charge of reviewing all regulations produced by the state of Oklahoma.  Over the past three years, Jason has served in private law practice, specializing in labor and employment law.  With his wife and two young sons, Jason lives in Oklahoma City and is an active member of his church and community.

Fred Perry, Tulsa County Commissioner, District 3, candidate for re-election

(The above candidate’s opponent, Drew Rees, spoke to TARA last month.)

Commissioner Fred Perry received his Bachelor’s degree in 1963 from the University of Kansas, majoring in Personnel Administration and Political Science.  Fred spent over 30 years in the information technology field.   He received several national sales and management awards during that time.  In 1994, Fred was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives.  Fred passed over 20 bills during his legislative career dealing with information technology, victims’ rights, government efficiency and transportation.  During his last term, Perry was Chairman of the Transportation Committee and helped pass landmark legislation to fund bridge and highway improvements without increasing taxes.  As Commissioner he has successfully lobbied to get more money for County transportation needs.  He has been working to make county government open, transparent and efficient.  The Tulsa County Performance Audit is posted on the Tulsa County website, and Perry is implementing many of the suggestions recommended by the Performance Audit team.  Fred is married to Marcia; they have two children and three grandchildren.  The Perrys have been members of Tulsa Bible Church since 1977 where Fred has served as deacon and deacon chairman.
